Vested Interest - Peter J. Flowers, President 2009-2010March 2010 Issue The President's Thoughts Supporing Our Sponsors On the last page of this issue you’ll see a list of businesses and services. These are members of Professionals & Businesses for Justice, or more simply put, our sponsors. We owe them a big “Thank You” for their generous support, but we also owe them something else – a phone call. A little background first… Regardless of the level, without these sponsors we’d be unable to offer certain programs, and our overall efforts would suffer. Their dollars help our voices be heard. February 2010 Issue The President's Thoughts Supporting the Effort The Illinois Supreme Court’s ruling on the Lebron case was welcome news; their 4 to 2 decision overturned the 2005 legislation that imposed arbitrary caps on medical malpractice awards, and did so in a way that would appear to be the final word on the subject. September 2009 Issue The President's Thoughts Survey Results #1 The results of the recent Membership Survey have been tabulated. Special thanks to those of you who added comments and suggestions; they will help us improve our service to you.

In last month’s “Vested Interest,” I tried to lay out my goals for the coming year. Top among them was to listen to you; to hear your ideas, concerns, complaints, and suggestions about this organization - and, after gathering that information, to implement the changes you want. [View Full Issue] June 2009 Issue When I was selected to become President of ITLA, my first thought was gratitude for the honor. As one who has spent his entire professional life as a trial lawyer, this is a career pinnacle. My next thought was what I wanted to accomplish in the next twelve months - and that is to strengthen the organization and prepare it for the challenges of the future. Our field is faced with two major threats: the relentless legislative and public relations assault on our profession and the declining involvement of our own members. This is a toxic combination, and unless there is a re-commitment by trial lawyers to support ITLA and our national association, AAJ, our field of practice may well be legislated out of existence.
