This will be my last opportunity to speak to you in Vested Interest. My term as President comes to an end shortly, and this gives me an opportunity to express to all of the members my feelings about what has transpired during my term and indeed throughout the years of my membership in ITLA. As expected, the Bush Administration has begun its assault on American's rights we consider important. President Bush has ended the American Bar Association's 50-year-old service to the nation of screening presidential nominations to the US Supreme Court and other federal judgeships. The ABA has provided objective evaluations of judicial nominations since first requested to do so by President Eisenhower 50 years ago. [View Full Issue]

While in O'Hare Airport waiting for a flight to an out-of-town deposition, I decided to pick up some reading material for the flight. The January 29, 2001 issue of Business Week magazine was touting on its cover an article identifying the best mutual funds for investments. [View Full Issue]

The importance of a strong voter turnout for the November elections cannot be emphasized enough. It is extremely important that we all do everything that we can to encourage our families and friends to come out and vote in this election. All who attended the Annual Installation Banquet had a grand time on June 2nd at the Oak Brook Hills Resort. It is with great pride that I become the 47th President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Since becoming a lawyer in 1983, I have been given the opportunity to meet, work with and learn from some of the greatest trial lawyers in our country.
