MARK D. PRINCE, managing partner at Prince Law Firm in Marion, Illinois, will be installed as the 65th President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association on Friday, June 8, 2018, at its annual convention at the JW Marriott Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.
Prince, 54, received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 1985. He continued his studies at Southern Illinois University School of Law where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1988. While in law school, Prince received several scholastic awards for consumer protection oriented studies.
Upon graduation, Prince worked at an insurance defense firm in Carbondale. Three years later, he realized he wanted to help injured people, so he joined a small plaintiff’s firm. In 2004 he ventured out on his own and founded Prince Law Firm.
Prince concentrates his law practice to representing people who have been harmed in any manner by the wrongful conduct of other people or corporations. His passion for lending a helping hand to those in need has resulted in Prince handling just about every type of personal injury cases including: bicycle and motorcycle accidents, auto accidents, slips and falls, construction or work-site accidents, medical malpractice, products liability, railroad accidents, workers’ compensation and wrongful death.
Since 1992, Prince has been an active member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and was elected to the Board of Managers in 2004. He has been an elected officer since 2010 and a member of the Executive Committee since 2012.
Prince is also actively involved in other professional organizations including the American Association for Justice, the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, Jackson County Bar Association and the Williamson County Bar Association.
As a leader in personal injury law, Prince frequently lectures other lawyers and has presented numerous teaching seminars for ITLA, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
In 2015 and 2017, Prince was awarded the Trial Lawyer Excellence Award presented by the Jury Verdict Reporter. He has also received ITLA’s President’s Award in 2012 and 2014.
“To be allowed to serve as President of ITLA is very humbling,” said Prince. “There have been many great presidents before me and I hope to continue their legacy and mission to protect and serve those who have been injured through the fault of others. I will work tirelessly to do so.”
Prince will celebrate his 35th anniversary with his wife Denise this August. They have two children: Stephanie, 25, and Brett, 23. His wife and daughter manage their horse farm in Carbondale raising and training performance horses. His son is still in school. In his free time, Prince enjoys spending time outdoors golfing or playing bocce.
